The rebuilding process begins with the taking of careful measurements of downbearing, string height, plate height and location, and pinblock location. Then the removal of the old strings, pins, and pinblock. Next, the soundboard is stripped and any visible cracks are shimmed. Then the soundboard is sanded and refinished, the bridge caps are inspected and repaired. Then the bridge top is graphited and notches are lacquered. The plate is washed, sanded, any cracks are filled,agraffes buffed, the sprayed iwth lacquer and bronzing powder. After the new pinblock is cut, shaped and fitted into the piano, it is drilled and the piano is ready to be strung.
